Dr Magdalena Simonis

Associate Professor Magdalena Simonis AM is a highly accomplished and dedicated General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a strong focus on preventative medicine and holistic health, Dr Simonis is widely recognised as a leading expert in women's health. Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of general medicine, with particular expertise in chronic disease management, lifestyle advice, and mental health support. She is committed to empowering her patients through clear communication and evidence-based guidance, ensuring that individuals of all backgrounds receive the highest standard of care.

In her clinical practice, Dr Simonis specialises in sexual and reproductive health, preconception care, and menopause management. She offers specialised services including contraceptive advice, Pap smears, mammography, and the insertion and removal of MIRENA and Implanon devices. Additionally, she holds a diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology, allowing her to provide shared obstetric care in collaboration with major maternity hospitals. Her clinical interests also extend to skin cancer medicine, where she performs thorough skin checks and minor surgical procedures to address concerning lesions.

Dr Simonis completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Melbourne, qualifying in 1986. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and holds a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRANZCOG), as well as a Master of Health and Human Services (MHHS). Alongside her clinical work, she is a Clinical Associate Professor and Senior Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Dr Simonis is also a prominent leader in the medical community, serving as an Examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holding the position of President of the Australian Federation of Medical Women.
