Dr Mac Nixon

Dr Mac Nixon is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in disorders of the hip and knee, alongside general orthopaedic surgery.

After completing his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at James Cook University (JCU), Queensland, Dr Nixon pursued advanced training through the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA). He further developed his expertise through two subspecialty fellowships: the St John of God Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Reconstruction Fellowship and the Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Reconstruction Fellowship.

Dr Nixon uses comprehensive assessments, surgical techniques and personalised rehabilitation plans when caring for his patients. His approach considers patients' lifestyles, personal goals and support networks throughout their treatment, from initial consultation through to surgery and follow-up care.

Education is also an important part of Dr Nixon's work. He is involved in educating patients and their families, as well as registrars and junior doctors, and supports colleagues in their professional development.
