Dr Lynn Townsend

Dr Lynn Townsend is a highly dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who specialises in providing comprehensive, individualised care to women and their families. With a deep commitment to supporting women throughout their pregnancy journeys, she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. Her practice encompasses general obstetrics, preconception care, and advanced obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound, ensuring that patients receive reassuring and evidence-based guidance at every stage of life.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Townsend has a strong interest in prenatal and genetic screening tests, abnormal placentation, and the ultrasound investigation of infertility. She is also actively involved in medical education, serving as a Lecturer in women's health, where she teaches students and Junior Medical Officers. Her dedication to academic excellence and research is reflected in her published work on topics such as placental accreta spectrum, ultrasound-guided removal of intrauterine devices, and iron optimisation during pregnancy.

Dr Townsend completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiology at the University of New South Wales, followed by her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Sydney, where she was awarded the Royal North Shore Medal. She qualified as a Medical Practitioner in 2001 and subsequently obtained a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Additionally, she holds professional memberships with several prestigious organisations, including the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine, the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand.
