Dr Louise Cunningham

Dr Louise Cunningham is a dedicated Consultant Geriatrician who provides comprehensive, compassionate care for older adults. She specialises in addressing the complex, multi-faceted health needs that often arise with ageing, focusing on enhancing her patients' quality of life and maintaining their independence. With a patient-centred approach, Dr Cunningham works closely with individuals, their families, and carers to develop tailored management plans that support healthy and active ageing.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of geriatric medicine, with particular expertise in functional maintenance, pain management, and the reduction of falls. Dr Cunningham is also highly skilled in managing polypharmacy, ensuring that medication regimens are safe, effective, and minimised to avoid adverse interactions. Additionally, she has a strong interest in the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, providing reassuring and evidence-based support to help patients and their families navigate these challenging conditions.

Dr Cunningham completed her medical education at Monash University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours, as well as a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours, in 2013. She subsequently undertook her specialist training in Geriatric Medicine at prominent metropolitan hospitals in Melbourne. Dr Cunningham is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Committed to advancing her field, she is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine Education and Training working group, where she contributes to medical education and advocacy.
