Dr Leslie Manning is a highly regarded Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon based in Brisbane, Queensland. Dr Manning graduated with his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1971. Following service as a Medical Officer in the Royal Australian Navy, he undertook extensive postgraduate specialist training in General Surgery, including neurosurgery, plastic surgery, and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgery. He then completed specialist Ophthalmic Surgery training at several major tertiary hospitals in Brisbane, alongside advanced training under the guidance of the renowned humanitarian and Ophthalmic Surgeon Professor Fred Hollows. Dr Manning obtained his specialist Fellowship in 1980 and was subsequently awarded a prestigious travelling Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO), which enabled him to pursue advanced studies in Vitreo-Retinal Surgery in the United States.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Manning has been a pioneer in his field, notably playing a key role in establishing Queensland's very first vitreo-retinal unit to restore sight to patients with severe visual impairment. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of advanced procedures, including treatments for macular degeneration, retinal detachment, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, vitreous haemorrhages, and diabetic retinopathy. Additionally, he is highly skilled in managing complex cataracts and addressing complications arising from previous cataract surgeries.
