Dr Laura Lallenec

Dr Laura Lallenec is a highly dedicated Sport and Exercise Physician who is passionate about helping patients of all athletic abilities achieve their health and performance goals. With a strong belief in using exercise as a form of medicine, she focuses on proactive healthcare, guiding both elite athletes and recreational individuals towards optimal recovery and physical wellbeing. Her extensive involvement in elite sports, including her roles as the Chief Medical Officer for Netball Australia and the Team Doctor for the Australian Diamonds, highlights her expertise in managing complex sports-related conditions and maintaining athlete safety.

In her clinical practice, Dr Lallenec focuses on a wide range of musculoskeletal and exercise-related medical issues. She has a particular interest in the non-operative management of hip and knee osteoarthritis, acute sporting injuries, and comprehensive concussion management. Additionally, her work with national sports organisations has fostered a strong interest in anti-doping medicine and sports pharmacy education, ensuring that athletes receive safe and compliant care. She is committed to tailoring individualised treatment programmes that focus on injury prevention, load monitoring, and safe return-to-play strategies.

Dr Lallenec completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours in Public Health before graduating with her medical degree from the University of Notre Dame in Fremantle in 2012. She completed her residency training at public hospitals in Darwin and Melbourne, after which she commenced her specialist training in Sports Medicine in 2016. She successfully completed this training in 2021, obtaining her Fellowship with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians. Dr Lallenec also serves as a Member of the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee, contributing her expertise to sports integrity and governance at a national level.
