Dr Kenneth Thistlethwaite

Dr Kenneth Thistlethwaite is a highly dedicated General Practitioner who brings a wealth of diverse medical expertise to his patients. With a strong foundation in general medicine, he has developed a unique clinical focus by pursuing advanced training in both anaesthesia and hyperbaric medicine. His practice is characterised by a compassionate, patient-centred approach, ensuring that individuals receive thorough and reassuring care tailored to their specific health needs.

Dr Thistlethwaite completed his Bachelor of Science with Honours before earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds credentials with the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia. Additionally, he completed formal subspecialty training in diving and hyperbaric medicine through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He actively contributes to his professional community as the Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Hyperbaric Medicine Group, serves as an Examiner in diving and hyperbaric medicine, and is a member of a diving and snorkelling death review panel.

In his clinical practice, Dr Thistlethwaite focuses on a wide range of complex medical conditions. His areas of interest include the management of chronic non-healing wounds, such as venous leg ulcers and diabetic wound healing, as well as the treatment of sudden sensorineural hearing loss. He is also highly experienced in addressing diving emergencies, carbon monoxide poisoning, and necrotising infections. Through his extensive knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, he provides advanced, evidence-based treatments designed to promote healing and improve patient outcomes.
