Dr Ken Cai

Dr Ken Cai is a highly qualified Consultant Rheumatologist who provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients experiencing musculoskeletal and autoimmune conditions. With a patient-centred approach, he focuses on delivering tailored treatment plans to manage complex chronic diseases and improve overall quality of life. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of rheumatological disorders, including inflammatory arthritis, crystal arthropathies, and systemic connective tissue diseases. He is dedicated to ensuring that patients receive timely, compassionate, and reassuring care to help them navigate their health journeys.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Cai is actively involved in medical research, academic teaching, and clinical leadership. He serves as a Staff Specialist and a Clinical Senior Lecturer, contributing to the education and training of Junior Doctors and medical students. As a Principal Investigator on multiple clinical trials and a Research Supervisor, his research interests include crystal arthritis, inflammatory arthritis, cardiovascular disease in rheumatology, and the development of core domain sets for clinical trials. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents his findings at local, national, and international conferences, ensuring his clinical practice remains at the forefront of modern medical advancements.

Dr Cai completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating with First Class Honours. He went on to obtain a Master of Science in Internal Medicine with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, followed by a Doctorate of Medical Sciences from the University of Auckland, where his research explored the relationship between gout and cardiovascular disease. He completed his specialist training at several major teaching hospitals and was awarded a prestigious research fellowship. Dr Cai is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators. He maintains active memberships with several professional organisations, including the Australian Rheumatology Association, the American College of Rheumatology, the Gout and Crystal Arthritis Network, and Outcome Measures in Rheumatology.
