Dr Katrina Chau

Associate Professor Katrina Chau is a highly dedicated and compassionate Nephrologist and Renal Medicine Specialist who provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of kidney-related conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she specialises in the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic kidney injury, haematuria, proteinuria, and recurrent urinary tract infections. Dr Chau is also deeply committed to managing complex cases of resistant hypertension, as well as providing ongoing care and support for patients undergoing dialysis or recovering from kidney transplantation.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Chau is a respected academic and researcher who contributes significantly to the advancement of renal medicine. She serves as a Clinical Sub Dean at a prominent Australian medical school and is an active member of several national and international nephrology societies. Her research interests are diverse, with a particular focus on the prevention of pre-eclampsia, and she offers specialised preconception reviews for pregnant women who may be at risk of this condition. Her dedication to medical education and research ensures that her patients receive evidence-based, cutting-edge care.

Dr Chau completed her Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours at the University of New South Wales. She went on to complete her specialist training in Australia and Vancouver, Canada, obtaining her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Nephrology in 2013. Furthering her academic pursuits, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in 2018 for her research into pre-eclampsia prevention. She is also recognised as a Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology, reflecting her standing within the global medical community.
