Dr Kathleen Cooke

Dr Kathleen Cooke is a highly accomplished Consultant Anaesthetist and Pain Medicine Specialist based in Brisbane, Australia. Known for her reassuring and professional approach, she is dedicated to providing the highest standard of perioperative care and pain management. Dr Cooke works closely with patients to ensure their safety, comfort, and peace of mind before, during, and after medical procedures. Dr Cooke completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Queensland in 1998. She subsequently completed her specialist anaesthetic training in Queensland, obtaining her Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2006. Demonstrating a deep commitment to pain management, she went on to complete a Pain Medicine Fellowship, achieving her Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA) in 2007. She has also undertaken advanced international training in paediatric anaesthesia and pain medicine.

In her clinical practice, Dr Cooke maintains a broad range of interests, including paediatric, obstetric, gynaecological, vascular, and general anaesthesia. She is particularly passionate about paediatric pain medicine, specialising in the treatment of chronic non-malignant pain conditions in children and adolescents through interventional and multidisciplinary approaches. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr Cooke is actively involved in medical education, advisory roles, and international volunteer programmes, providing essential anaesthetic care and training to underserved communities worldwide.
