Dr Kate Sewell

Dr Kate Sewell is a highly qualified Specialist Anaesthetist based in Queensland, Australia. She is dedicated to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. With a patient-focused approach, Dr Sewell ensures that individuals feel reassured, comfortable, and well-informed throughout their surgical journey, from the pre-operative assessment to post-operative recovery.

Dr Sewell completed her undergraduate studies in 2006, obtaining a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biomedical Science from a prominent Queensland university, before qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2010. Committed to broadening her medical expertise, she also earned a Graduate Certificate in Public Health in 2017. She completed her comprehensive speciality training in anaesthesia at a major tertiary hospital, culminating in a dedicated fellowship in vascular anaesthesia in 2018. Dr Sewell achieved her Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2019 and has been a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists since 2018.

In her clinical practice, Dr Sewell specialises in providing anaesthesia for vascular, upper gastrointestinal, bariatric, lower limb orthopaedic, and ophthalmic surgeries. She maintains a particular clinical interest in major trauma and major vascular surgery. Alongside her clinical commitments, she is deeply involved in medical education, contributing to the training and mentorship of future Anaesthetists within the public healthcare system and serving as a Senior Lecturer. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys yoga, travel, music, and spending time with her family.
