Dr Karen Chan

Dr Karen Chan is a highly accomplished and reassuring Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Pain Specialist who is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for women. She specialises in advanced laparoscopic surgery and the multidisciplinary management of complex pelvic pain. Dr Chan is committed to delivering patient-centred care, ensuring that women feel supported and empowered throughout their treatment journeys. Her clinical practice focuses on addressing a wide range of gynaecological concerns with empathy, professionalism, and clinical excellence.

Dr Chan completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales, graduating with Honours in 2010. She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology across several major regional and metropolitan hospitals in Queensland and New South Wales. To further her clinical expertise, she undertook a dedicated fellowship in women's pain management, followed by advanced training to qualify as a specialist Pain Medicine Physician. Dr Chan is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FFPMANZCA).

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Chan is a passionate researcher and educator. She serves as a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the University of New South Wales, where she helps train the next generation of medical professionals. Her research in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery and pelvic pain has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international conferences. Demonstrating her commitment to clinical advancement, she was awarded the Robert Wrigley Pain Research Scholarship by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists to support her research into vulval pain.
