Dr John Langford-Smith

Dr John Langford-Smith is a highly qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist and General Ophthalmic Surgeon who provides comprehensive eye care. With a strong focus on patient-centred care, he is dedicated to diagnosing and managing a wide range of ocular conditions. His clinical practice encompasses general ophthalmic medicine and advanced surgical procedures, ensuring that patients receive thorough and reassuring treatment tailored to their individual visual needs.

As an experienced Surgeon, Dr Langford-Smith possesses particular expertise in cataract surgery and the management of glaucoma, including the use of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) stents. His clinical interests also extend to oculoplastic procedures, such as blepharoplasty, eyelid tightening, and the excision of eyelid tumours. Additionally, he is highly skilled in treating retinal conditions, offering intravitreal injections for wet macular degeneration, and managing pterygia. His approach combines clinical precision with a compassionate manner, helping patients feel comfortable and well-informed throughout their treatment journey.

Dr Langford-Smith has an exemplary academic background, beginning with a Bachelor of Science with First Class Honours in Biochemistry from the University of Sydney. Prior to his medical career, he worked as an Immuno-chemist in Sydney. He subsequently completed his medical degree at the University of Sydney. Following his medical studies, he undertook a Master of Science in Medicine research degree in Sydney and specialised in Clinical Ophthalmology, completing his specialist training in 2000. He also completed subspecialty fellowship training in vitreoretinal surgery. Dr Langford-Smith is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), reflecting his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ophthalmic practice.
