Professor Johan Rosman is a Specialist Nephrologist. He is originally from Groningen, The Netherlands, where he completed his medical training and specialised in internal medicine. He undertook his nephrology training in Heidelberg, Germany (Prof Ritz), after which he held hospital/academic positions in Switzerland (Basle, Berne and Lausanne). In 2002 Dr Rosman moved to Auckland, New Zealand to work as a senior nephrologist at Auckland Hospital and Auckland University.
He relocated to Perth in 2012 to take up a position as a nephrologist at Royal Perth Hospital, and also took on a role at the University of Western Australia. He has since kept his position at RPH, but moved over to Curtin Medical School in December 2017 as a Foundation Professor of Medicine. A completely new Medical School was set up.
He has a substantial private practice, which is popular with kidney and hypertension patients because he gives them all the time they need to get their questions ansdwered. He also seed dialysis and transplanted patients there.
Dr Rosman also has an excellent track record of publishing his research in peer-reviewed journals, and has won numerous awards for both his research and clinical work over the years. He is passionate about communication between General Practice and secondary/tertiary care; something that is standard practice in the countries where he trained, but he finds lacking in Australia. He loves taking calls from GP's for advice, as he believes that good healthcare can only be delivered through close interaction.
He has two ciinics: in Nedlands and in Canning Vale. Although the Nedlands clinic is close to the centre of the city, the Canning Vale clinic has the advantage of parking right in front of the door (free) whereas parking in Nedlands can be more complex in busy hours.

It is rare to find a professional health specialist that genuinely cares about your health and is also extremely knowledgeable in the area required. I have spent the last 2-3 years trying to get answers about my kidney issues mainly proteinuria alot of the doctors and specialists simply have no idea on cause, treatment and options. It is genuinely quite frustrating when you are told to simply wait till conditions get worst. Doctor Johan Rosman is honestly a breath of fresh air. I've only had 2 appointments via online / telehealth option (this has saved me alot of time) and I can honestly say I have learned more and been informed more about my kidney situation than all the appointments in the last 2-3 years. And I finally feel I have a solution and treatment plan and someone that I know makes themselves approachable, is highly analytical, detailed and will do everything in their ability to help me get the answers amd treatment I need. I have felt so much more confident with continuing life and worrying less about my kidney condition now. Doctor Johan Rosman is truly a professional specialist and one of the best in Perth. Your health is important, dont waste time with less informed specialists, as your health is everything. The appointment went for a full hour and was extremely comprehensive with a myriad of questions about my health and lifestyle, and concerns. I was straight away placed on pretty much every relative kidney test (full comprehensive bloods and urine) and we got a full picture. This was truly above and beyond. Thank you so much Doctor Johan Rosman ...

Professor Johan Rosman has been my Nephrologist since I migrated to Australia almost two years ago. I chose him to be my primary health consultant to take care of my health specifically my transplanted kidney. The initial consult took more than an hour as he was very thorough asking questions about my medical history, family history and also did physical check on my transplanted kidney. After the first consult, I knew I have found the Nephrologist I can trust. Follow up consult lasts for 30 mins, which starts with asking my overall health. He answers all my questions anytime, even in between visits, with great thought and care and I never leave with unanswered questions. He also sends a copy of his report to myself and my GP after each consult. I am very happy that I have found a Nephrologist that genuinely cares about his patients by taking time to listen to them. My overall health and kidney function is better than ever. Dr. Rosman is one of the most knowledgeable transplant doctors I have ever met.
