Dr Jingyi Cao

Dr Jingyi Cao is a Head and Neck Surgeon, Surgical Oncologist, and General Surgeon with specialist expertise in thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary gland surgery, as well as advanced skin cancer and soft tissue tumour management. Her clinical practice focuses on delivering evidence-based surgical care using modern techniques tailored to each patient’s individual condition and goals.

She graduated from the University of Melbourne School of Medicine in 2010 and went on to complete specialist surgical training, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in General Surgery in 2019. She subsequently undertook advanced subspecialty training in Head and Neck Surgery and Surgical Oncology at Westmead Hospital and the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre.

Dr Cao holds full membership with both the Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons and the Australian and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society.

Her specialist interests include thyroid and parathyroid surgery, neck dissections, salivary gland tumours and ductal stone disease, advanced melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers, soft tissue tumours, and both general and laparoscopic surgery. She is particularly committed to patient-centred care and is recognised for her empathetic communication style and ability to clearly explain complex conditions and treatment options. She offers consultations in both English and Mandarin.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Cao is actively involved in surgical education and training. She is a qualified Royal Australasian College of Surgeons CCrISP instructor and Clinical Examiner and contributes extensively to the supervision of surgical trainees, junior doctors, and medical students.

Dr Cao was awarded a Master of Philosophy in Medicine by the University of Sydney for her thesis examining the surgical management of secondary and tertiary hyperparathyroidism. Her ongoing research interests include head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, and initiatives aimed at improving patient safety and quality of care.
