Dr James Robert Carter

Dr James Robert Carter is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who provides comprehensive primary healthcare to patients of all ages. With a relaxed and reassuring manner, Dr Carter is committed to building strong, long-term relationships with individuals and their families. He welcomes patients with a diverse range of health concerns, offering expert guidance and personalised care for both simple and highly complex medical issues. His daily clinical practice spans a wide variety of presentations, from caring for infants and young families to supporting elderly patients.

Throughout his career, Dr Carter has developed a broad range of clinical interests. He is particularly passionate about family medicine, children's health, and men's health. Additionally, he has extensive experience in managing complex medical conditions, assisting cancer patients through their treatment journeys, and addressing musculoskeletal health, sports injuries, and concussion management. His versatile expertise also extends to occupational health and student health, and he has previously served as a Team Doctor for a women's sports programme.

Dr Carter completed his medical education at the University of Melbourne, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSci). He subsequently undertook specialist postgraduate training to achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Dedicated to fostering the next generation of medical professionals, Dr Carter serves as a Senior Lecturer in General Practice at a prominent Victorian university. He also actively supervises General Practice Trainees and acts as an examiner for aspiring General Practitioners with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
