Dr Ian Nguyen

Dr Ian Nguyen is a highly qualified Specialist Anaesthetist who provides patient-centric, safe, and evidence-based anaesthetic care. He is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence, bedside manner, and medical knowledge. Dr Nguyen works across several private hospitals in Melbourne and also holds a public appointment as a Visiting Specialist, where he contributes to the training and assessment of future anaesthetists. His clinical approach is defined by a commitment to patient safety, comfort, and the delivery of high-quality perioperative care.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Nguyen provides anaesthesia for various surgical specialties. He has particular expertise in anaesthesia for obstetrics and gynaecology, fertility surgery, and ophthalmic procedures. Additionally, he regularly administers anaesthesia for orthopaedic, neurosurgical, colorectal, and cardiac electrophysiological procedures. Dr Nguyen is also highly skilled in paediatric anaesthesia, particularly for children undergoing ear, nose, and throat (ENT), maxillofacial, and dental surgeries.

Dr Nguyen has a comprehensive academic background, holding a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Bachelor of Medical Science with Honours (B.Med.Sci. (Hons)). He has furthered his clinical expertise with a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Health and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound. Dr Nguyen is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and actively participates in their Continuing Professional Development programme.
