Dr Hugh Levien is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who provides compassionate, patient-centred mental health care. With a focus on delivering comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and tailored treatment plans, he supports individuals navigating a wide range of complex mental health challenges. Dr Levien is dedicated to fostering a reassuring and supportive environment, ensuring that each patient feels heard and respected throughout their therapeutic journey.

Throughout his career, Dr Levien has developed a broad range of clinical interests, with a particular focus on mood disorders, including refractory depression and bipolar disorder. He is also highly experienced in managing anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and personality disorders. In addition to these areas, his clinical practice encompasses the assessment and treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), psychosis, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr Levien also provides specialised support for individuals facing addiction, substance misuse, and problem gambling, utilising supportive psychotherapy to facilitate long-term recovery and wellness.

Dr Levien completed his medical training at the University of Auckland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1980. Committed to the highest standards of psychiatric practice, he went on to complete his specialist training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1987.
