Dr Frans Van Tonder

Dr Frans Van Tonder is an Interventional Radiologist. They completed their MBChB, earning First Class Honours, at the University of Cape Town. Their postgraduate training in radiology took place at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. In their FRANZCR final examinations, Dr Van Tonder received the MGF Donnan Prize for achieving the highest score in Australia.

They continued their training with fellowships in MRI and Interventional Radiology in Melbourne while simultaneously completing a Master of Medicine in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Melbourne. During this time, Dr Van Tonder was actively engaged in registrar teaching and research, working as a VMO radiologist at St Vincent's Public Hospital. They have authored publications both domestically and internationally and maintain an interest in research and teaching.

In 2016, Dr Van Tonder undertook further training in Thoracic Imaging and completed an observership in interstitial lung disease at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.
