A/Prof Dixon Woon

Associate Professor Dixon Woon is a highly regarded, Australian-trained Urologist and Urological Surgeon who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care in East Melbourne. He is dedicated to delivering individualised, holistic treatment, believing that the best clinical outcomes begin with active listening and collaborative decision-making. His practice philosophy is built upon providing the same high standard of compassionate care that he would expect for his own family members.

With extensive expertise in complex robotic and minimally invasive surgery, A/Prof Woon focuses particularly on urological cancers, including prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular cancers. He is a high-volume Robotic Surgeon, with a particular interest in robotic prostatectomy. In addition to uro-oncology, he manages general urological conditions such as kidney stones and benign prostatic hyperplasia. His clinical approach combines advanced surgical techniques with a reassuring and supportive manner to guide patients through their treatment journeys.

A/Prof Woon completed his medical degree with honours at Monash University, followed by his specialist urological training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. To further his academic and research interests, he earned a Doctor of Medical Science degree in advanced prostate cancer treatments and cancer immunology from the University of Melbourne in 2018. He then completed a prestigious Society of Urologic Oncology Fellowship in robotic, laparoscopic, and open cancer surgery at the University of Toronto in 2019. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology and the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to his clinical practice, A/Prof Woon holds academic appointments as a Clinical Associate Professor, where he supervises higher-degree research students and actively participates in multiple clinical trials. He conducts extensive research, having authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at major national and international scientific meetings. He also serves in key leadership roles within the urological community, advocating for cultural inclusion, education, and health equity.
