Prof. Denis Wakefield

Prof. Denis Wakefield is a highly distinguished Clinical Pathologist and Immunologist who is dedicated to providing exceptional diagnostic and clinical care. With a deep focus on the complexities of the human immune system, he specialises in the diagnosis and management of allergic disorders, immunodeficiencies, and autoimmune diseases. His clinical expertise is particularly renowned in the field of inflammatory eye disease, where he works closely with patients to identify underlying immunological causes and develop tailored management strategies.

Prof. Wakefield completed his medical education at the University of New South Wales, graduating with First Class Honours and receiving the prestigious University Medal for Medicine. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1975, followed by a Doctor of Medicine in 1984 and a Doctor of Science in 2007. Demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of medical practice, he achieved dual specialist qualifications in 1982, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. He is also a Fellow of the Faculty of Science of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia.

He has held prominent academic leadership roles, including serving as a Professor and Head of Pathology at the university level.
