Dr Cynthia Parr

Dr Cynthia Parr is a dedicated and compassionate Palliative Medicine Specialist who is deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for patients facing serious and life-limiting illnesses. Working as a Consultant and Staff Specialist, she focuses on providing holistic, individualised care that addresses the physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of her patients. Dr Parr collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals to ensure that patients and their families receive comprehensive support during challenging times.

With a strong focus on supportive care, Dr Parr has extensive clinical interest in pain management, symptom control, and end-of-life care. She is particularly passionate about helping patients with advanced cancers and other terminal conditions manage distressing symptoms, such as refractory breathlessness and delirium. Her reassuring and patient-centred approach aims to restore comfort, dignity, and peace of mind, helping patients live as fully and comfortably as possible.

Dr Parr completed her medical training at the University of New South Wales, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1992. She is a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine within the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Throughout her career, she has also contributed to clinical research and trials aimed at improving delirium prevention and supportive care interventions in palliative settings.
