Dr Claire Hooper

Dr Claire Hooper is a highly regarded Consultant Ophthalmologist who specialises in medical retina and inflammatory eye conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to diagnosing and managing complex disorders of the eye, helping patients preserve and improve their vision. Her clinical focus encompasses a wide range of retinal and macular diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal vascular disorders, as well as inflammatory conditions such as uveitis and scleritis.

Dr Hooper graduated from the University of Melbourne School of Medicine in 1997. She went on to complete her specialist ophthalmology training at a major dedicated eye hospital in Sydney. Following this, she was awarded a prestigious travelling scholarship, which enabled her to undertake advanced fellowship training in medical retina and uveitis at a world-renowned eye hospital in London. Dr Hooper is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO).

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Hooper is actively involved in advancing the field of ophthalmology. She has participated as an investigator in clinical trials for macular degeneration and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has also co-authored several book chapters and regularly contributes to the wider ophthalmic community as a journal reviewer.
