Dr Christine Schmid

Dr Christine Schmid is a dedicated and compassionate General Paediatrician and Neonatologist who provides comprehensive, family-centred care for infants, children, and adolescents. With a clinical approach that is both inclusive and reassuring, Dr Schmid focuses on the unique circumstances of each child and their family. She strongly believes that a supportive partnership between a Paediatrician and a family is essential in helping young patients reach their full developmental and physical potential.

Dr Schmid completed her specialist paediatric training in Germany, where she also obtained her Doctorate of Medicine. She later relocated to Australia to undertake a clinical fellowship, subsequently gaining full Australian accreditation as a General Paediatrician. She is a recognised Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Throughout her career, she has held key clinical positions as a Neonatal Specialist in major neonatal intensive care units and paediatric departments across the country, whilst also maintaining a strong commitment to medical leadership and the education of future healthcare professionals.

With dual training in both general paediatrics and neonatology, Dr Schmid possesses extensive expertise in managing a diverse range of paediatric conditions. Her clinical interests include the specialised care and developmental follow-up of infants born prematurely, as well as the management of acute and chronic childhood illnesses such as asthma and constipation. Additionally, she is highly skilled in assessing and supporting children with neurodevelopmental and behavioural challenges, including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder.
