Dr Chenlei Li

Dr Chenlei Li is a dual-trained Nephrologist and Palliative Care Physician. They are the clinical lead for the kidney supportive care programme, a well-established multidisciplinary supportive care service for all patients with kidney disease. Their academic interests include kidney supportive care, bioethics, advance care planning, and communication skills in the healthcare setting.

Dr Li helps patients with kidney failure, or end-stage kidney disease, who face a complex and confronting decision regarding kidney replacement therapy. While a list of options exists, including kidney transplant (live or deceased donor), peritoneal dialysis, haemodialysis (home or in-centre), and conservative kidney management, not all pathways are suitable for all patients. Dr Li supports patients in shared decision-making and provides recommendations based on current medical evidence as well as patient preferences, priorities, and individual circumstances.
