Dr Celeste Hoopmann

Dr Celeste Hoopmann is a highly dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who specialises in women's mental health and perinatal psychiatry. With a compassionate and reassuring approach, she supports individuals and families navigating the complex emotional landscape of pre-conception, pregnancy, and the early stages of parenthood. Dr Hoopmann is committed to providing inclusive, evidence-based care, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all patients, including those from neurodiverse and LGBTQI+ communities.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of mental health concerns, with a particular focus on anxiety, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Dr Hoopmann also provides therapeutic support for individuals experiencing grief and loss, particularly in relation to infertility and perinatal loss. Utilising a variety of therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy and parent-infant psychotherapy, she works collaboratively with patients to facilitate early intervention, promote recovery, and foster healthy parent-infant relationships.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr Hoopmann has contributed to the training of future medical professionals. She has held joint appointments as a Consultant Psychiatrist at public perinatal and infant inpatient units and has served as an Honorary Lecturer, teaching medical students and postgraduate psychiatry trainees in the field of perinatal mental health. Her dedication to education was recognised with a teaching award in perinatal psychiatry.

Dr Hoopmann obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Adelaide, graduating in 2007. She subsequently completed a Master of Psychiatry (MPM) at the University of Melbourne. Dr Hoopmann is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Her extensive postgraduate training includes specialist psychiatric residency and fellowship rotations in obstetrics, emergency paediatrics, and dedicated mother-baby units, alongside advanced training in parent-infant psychotherapy and mentalisation-based practice at a renowned international centre in London.
