Dr Benjamin Trewin

Dr Benjamin Trewin is a highly qualified Consultant Neurologist and Neuroimmunologist. Known for his warm, professional demeanour and emotional astuteness, he prioritises a patient-centred approach to achieve the best possible outcomes. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals experiencing complex neurological conditions, combining clinical excellence with a compassionate understanding of each patient's unique circumstances.

His clinical practice encompasses a broad range of neurological disorders, with a particular focus on autoimmune conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord. Dr Trewin has extensive experience in managing multiple sclerosis, MOG antibody disease, and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder. Additionally, he specialises in the diagnosis and management of complex central nervous system autoimmune disorders, such as autoimmune encephalitis and neurosarcoidosis. He is also highly skilled in treating common neurological issues, including migraines, post-concussion syndrome, and post-traumatic headaches, and is experienced in performing therapeutic botulinum toxin procedures for chronic migraine.

Dr Trewin completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Exercise, Sport Science and Nutrition in 2007, followed by his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2012 at university in Sydney. He completed his specialist training as a Neurologist in 2019, obtaining admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. To further his expertise, he completed a subspecialty fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology, and went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in Neuroimmunology in 2024. He remains actively involved in academic research, contributing to high-impact medical journals and presenting his findings internationally.
