Dr Bas Hanekamp

Dr Bas Hanekamp is a highly qualified Nephrologist and General Physician who specialises in Renal Medicine. Originally from the Netherlands, he relocated to Australia to continue his medical career, bringing a wealth of international expertise to his patients. Dr Hanekamp is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of kidney disorders and complex multi-system medical conditions.

With a broad clinical focus, Dr Hanekamp has developed particular expertise in acute care medicine, peri-operative medicine, and obstetric medicine, which involves managing complex medical disorders in pregnant women. His renal practice encompasses the management of chronic kidney disease, plasmapheresis, and organ transplant care. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Hanekamp is passionate about medical education and serves as a convenor for an annual acute care medicine course, whilst also dedicating time to providing essential medical services in remote areas.

Dr Hanekamp completed his primary medical training in the Netherlands, earning his medical degree. Upon moving to Australia, he completed advanced specialist training and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
