Dr Barton Smith

Dr. Barton Smith is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist specialising in fertility and reproductive health. He currently practices at Fertility North, located within Joondalup Private Hospital, where he provides comprehensive care for couples and individuals navigating fertility challenges. His approach focuses on compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to each patient’s personal journey.

After earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Notre Dame, Australia, in 2009, Dr. Smith began his medical career across metropolitan and regional hospitals throughout Western Australia. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2020 and is currently completing a Master’s in Reproductive Medicine, enhancing his expertise in both male and female infertility.

Dr. Smith has a particular interest in reproductive genetics and is conducting research into the safety of intravenous iron use during pregnancy. Before pursuing medicine, he worked as an exploration geologist for a decade and earned a PhD in Optically Stimulated Luminescence Dating, reflecting his deep scientific curiosity.

Outside of medicine, he is a passionate classical guitarist and rock musician, enjoys gardening, and values time spent with his family.
