Dr Asha Sadasivan

Dr Asha Sadasivan is a compassionate and highly dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive mental health care for adult patients. Based in Coomera, Queensland, she adopts a holistic, person-centred approach to psychiatric care, recognising that mental wellbeing is shaped by a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. Dr Sadasivan prioritises building a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, respect, and open communication, collaborating closely with patients and their families to develop tailored treatment pathways.

Specialising in general adult psychiatry, Dr Sadasivan has a wide range of clinical interests and expertise. She focuses on the assessment and management of complex conditions, including major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, she provides support for individuals experiencing bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder (BPD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Dr Sadasivan has a particular interest in treatment-resistant mood disorders and substance-use-related conditions, utilising an integrated treatment model that combines pharmacological therapies with psychotherapeutic support, mindfulness, and lifestyle interventions.

Dr Sadasivan completed her primary medical education, obtaining her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in India. She subsequently moved to the United Kingdom, where she undertook specialist training in psychiatry within the Mersey Deanery rotational training scheme and achieved Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). After relocating to Australia, she completed her advanced training to become a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP). Alongside her clinical practice, she has contributed significantly to the medical community, having served in senior clinical roles at a major public hospital and as an Associate Professor and Clinical Lead in psychiatry at a prominent university.
