Dr Anthony Sammel

Dr Sammel is a consultant rheumatologist and vasculitis specialist. They see patients with all forms of rheumatic, connective tissue and musculoskeletal diseases. Dr Sammel has subspecialist expertise in vasculitis. Vasculitis refers to a family of conditions where the immune system attacks blood vessels. These conditions include giant cell arteritis, Takayasu arteritis, ANCA-associated vasculitis, cryoglobulinaemia, IgG4 and Behcet disease.

Dr Sammel also has a keen interest in giant cell arteritis, a condition which was the focus of their PhD. In addition to their clinical work, Dr Sammel is a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales and has published extensively on giant cell arteritis. They have also spoken on this topic at national and international conferences.
