Dr Andrew Gong is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Victoria, Australia. He has over 20 years of clinical experience and over 15 years of specialist experience in orthopaedics.

Dr Gong completed his medical degree in 1996 at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2005 and later became a Fellow of the Royal Australian Orthopaedic Association.

He also undertook further fellowships in the UK and Canada, one as a Hip & Knee Fellow and the other as a Paediatric Fellow.

He currently practices as an orthopaedic surgeon as part of the Orthopaedics Victoria group, taking appointments from both Epworth Eastern Hospital and Epworth Richmond Hospital.

He has expertise in the following areas:

  • Hip and knee joint replacement
  • Hip and knee revision surgery
  • Knee arthroscopy
  • ACL and MPFL reconstruction
  • Rotator cuff reconstruction
  • Sports injury reconstruction (shoulders)
  • Trauma/fractures

Dr Gong has specialist interest in minimally-invasive hip surgery (using anterior and posterior approaches) and knee surgery using advanced technology. The approaches promote quicker hospital discharge, enhanced recovery, less post-operative pain and smaller scarring.

Dr Gong is a member of the Australian Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a Honorary Lecturer at the University of Melbourne and an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University.
