Dr Adrian Koay is a highly qualified and experienced comprehensive Ophthalmologist who provides expert eye care services in Geraldton, Western Australia. He is dedicated to delivering personalised, high-quality care to a diverse range of patients, drawing on a wealth of international and local experience. Throughout his career, Dr Koay has worked across both public and private sectors in various regional and metropolitan locations, including Perth, Geraldton, and Carnarvon. His reassuring and patient-focused approach ensures that individuals undergoing complex eye treatments feel comfortable and well-informed at every stage of their clinical journey.

With a broad range of clinical interests, Dr Koay specialises in advanced cataract surgery, eyelid surgery, and the management of complex retinal conditions. He is particularly skilled in treating patients with diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. In addition, Dr Koay has a strong focus on glaucoma management, utilising the latest techniques in microinvasive glaucoma surgery and the implantation of glaucoma drainage devices. His commitment to clinical excellence is matched by his active involvement in ophthalmic research, having authored a thesis on diabetic retinopathy alongside numerous books and articles published in peer-reviewed international journals.

Dr Koay completed his medical training at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. He went on to obtain a Master of Ophthalmology (MOphthal) from Universiti Malaya. Committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice, he pursued further postgraduate qualifications abroad, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) in the United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO). Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Koay is passionate about medical education, regularly teaching and mentoring General Practitioners, Optometrists, and Medical Students from several leading Australian universities.
