Westmead Private Cardiology

Westmead Private Cardiology is a group of independent practitioners providing comprehensive cardiological services. The facility is associated with Westmead Private Hospital, a 161-bed tertiary referral hospital and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney's Western Clinical School. The team includes cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons who work together to deliver a high level of patient care.

The cardiology services are supported by a dedicated cardiovascular unit with 23 beds and two cardiac catheterisation laboratories. These laboratories are equipped with advanced digital medical imaging technology for the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The unit is staffed by specialist nurses experienced in caring for patients before and after cardiac procedures and managing conditions such as chest pain, heart failure, and arrhythmias.

A wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures are performed. These include coronary angiograms, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and electrophysiology studies. The facility also offers services for the insertion of permanent pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs). In addition to these services, the hospital provides cardiothoracic surgery for various heart and lung conditions.
