Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service

The Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service that delivers primary health care to the local community. It was established through the initiative of the local Aboriginal community, which continues to operate the service through a locally elected Board of Management to ensure self-determination and self-management in health care.

The service began its transition from a primary health post to an Aboriginal Medical Service in 1999, appointing its first chief executive officer in 2001 and securing funding in 2004. Today, the organisation employs a substantial team of clinical and administrative staff who serve thousands of clients across a wide area. The service's reach extends to Griffith and surrounding communities, including Hay, Hillston, Lake Cargelligo, Murrin Bridge, Leeton, Narrandera, and Darlington Point.

The Griffith Aboriginal Medical Service offers a range of general practice, specialist, and allied health services. Patients have access to general practitioners, practice nurses, and various allied health professionals.
