Explanation

Mr Rai really listened to my problems during our consultations, and took time to carefully explain the treatment he proposed, ensuring I understood everything he was saying. He performed a vertebroplasty on me this morning, and I was amazed that the pain I had been experiencing was dramatically reduced within hours of the operation. He is kind and attentive and I highly recommend him.

I found the entire process worked very efficiently, from the first consultation within a week, the information and advice given to allow an informed decision, to admission and procedure within 6 weeks. I received a letter after each appointment detailing the discussion and actions agreed upon. I was able to ask questions which were answered fully and provided reassurance. My husband was also included in discussions. I am happy that the procedure went as planned and look forward to recovering well.

Explanation

Today the 27th February 2024 I rang the Shire hospital and was given an appointment outside of Mr Rai’s working schedule, I have a sciatic nerve protrusion and wanted to have it removed as I wanted to get back to my football coaching and the golf course as soon as possible. With the medication I take, today’s pain measurement was 4/5 out of 10 and was expecting to be booked in for the operation straight away. How wrong was I!!!! Dr Rai provided an exceptional insight into my problem and explained in detail the prognosis of the options available. His professional and knowledgeable demeanour ensured that I felt confident and reassured about what would come next. What did follow was a thorough explanation of why I shouldn’t have the operation and that my health would improve over time with exercises and continued pain management. I would have been self funding and was quite prepared to hand over a large sum of money to Mr Rai. It was humbling to know that he puts his patients first in front of financial gain and would highly recommend Mr Rai to anyone. Thank you Mr Rai, John

Explanation

I first saw Mr Rai back in October 2023 with extreme pain that radiated from my lower back, down through to my left leg and all the way to my foot. He as very much to the point and was able to quickly advised I should have a MRI to see what’s going on but said he believed it to be a herniated disc. Had my MRI and results all within a week with the results being as Mr Rai suggested - a very large herniated disc on my L5S1. Mr Rai gave me options available to me; leave it, injections or an operation. He explained these options in detail including how successful he thought they may be, answering any questions. Fast forward to January 2024 I opted for surgery. Although extremely reluctant and nervous, Mr Rai was very attentive and reassuring. Follow up appointments were frequent due to an abscess appearing due to the stitches not dissolving but this was managed well and felt nothing was too much for Mr Rai. I’m now 6 weeks post op and can honestly say it’s been a difficult journey but very much worth it and can only thank Mr Rai for his kind and caring ways.
