About

Prof. Kim Ah-See is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon who works at the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital and BMI Albyn Hospital.

He qualified in Medicine from Aberdeen University in 1986. He undertook his surgical training in Glasgow and alongside this he was carrying research in Head and Neck Cancer at the Beatson Institute in Glasgow. This led him to achieve an MD qualification at Aberdeen University. Following this, he completed his ENT training in Edinburgh and subsequently a year-long fellowship in Rotterdam, Holland, where he specialised in Head and Neck Cancer.

Prof Ah-See was first appointed as Consultant in 2000 at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. He covers a wide range of ENT problems, including nasal polyps, voice problems, Tonsillitis, Allergic Rhinitis and vocal cord disorders. He also works as an Intercollegiate ENT Examiner and Assessor for the Royal College of Surgeons. Furthermore, he became the NHS Director of Undergraduate Teaching in Medicine at Aberdeen University in 2008.

He was the ENT Specialty advisor to the Chief Medical Officer (Scotland) from 2015-2021. He was also the Chair of ENT Scotland from 2015-2021.

He is currently a GMC associate working in the Test of Competence and the Performance assessment teams (2016- )

He is the ENT UK advisor to the British National Formulary (BNF) for ENT conditions and medicines.
