About Professor Jarrod Homer

Professor Jarrod Homer is a consultant ENT and head and neck surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. He has almost two decades of experience and specialises in thyroid issues, neck lumps, and the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancers. He has a clinical interest in the assessment of throat problems and was one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform neck ultrasound and ultrasound-guided needle biopsy. This enables patients with a lump in the neck to receive a one-stop service, avoiding multiple appointments and allowing for a faster diagnosis.

Professor Homer assesses and treats patients with neck and thyroid lumps, suspected or confirmed head and neck cancer, and common throat and voice problems, such as a lump in the throat sensation, recurrent tonsil infections, and laryngitis.

Additionally, he has had his work published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals and received more than £1.5 million in research grants during his tenure. He currently serves as the clinical chair of otolaryngology and head and neck surgery at the University of Manchester and is also an international authority on head and neck surgery.

I had an appointment with Professor Jarred Homer, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment I met him, he was kind, professional, and incredibly reassuring. He took the time to explain everything in detail, answered all of my questions with patience, and made sure I fully understood my diagnosis and the next steps. His expertise was immediately apparent, but what impressed me most was his compassionate and calm approach during what was a very stressful time for me. I never felt rushed, and he treated me with genuine care and respect throughout the consultation. His thoroughness and attention to detail gave me great confidence that I was receiving the highest standard of care. I would wholeheartedly recommend Professor Jarred Homer to anyone seeking an outstanding thyroid specialist.

I visited Jarrod Homers surgery at the Wilmslow Hospital, the whole experience was seamless and stress free, I had experienced a very severe accident where I had fainted and hit my face on the edge of a shower cubicle, as you can imagine my nose was in very damaged state. I had consultations with several other surgeons but unfortunately they could only deal with the deviated septum. I was relieved to hear Jarrod could rectify both the inside and outside damage the fall had caused. I was in surgery as a day case and my nose is now fully healed, the surgery was 100% successful. I would fully recommend Jarrod Homer, he was professional and immediately put my mind at ease with his knowledge, experience and confidence. The staff at the hospital were all amazing, they were professional and you can clearly see they had years of experience and really cared about the patients wellbeing, and not to forget the first port of call Jarrod’s secretary Louise who was so helpful and went the extra mile to make everything run smoothly.
