Mr Declan Cahill was selected by me initially based on his qualifications and experience to obtain a second opinion on whether I should proceed with surgery after my prostrate cancer prognosis or if I needed to look at the radiotherapy option as favoured by the NHS. His calm pleasant and highly professional demeanour put me at ease as he went through the various reasons he gave for me being a most suitable candidate for surgery. Once the decision was made to undergo surgery he guided me through his most competent support staff through all the pre operational procedures to prepare me for surgery. I must admit I did my very best to keep up with all the exercises etc that were recommended which I believe helped me a a great deal post surgery. This I recommend strongly to any prospective patient. I also had a great fear which none of the other Doctors I spoke to could allay regarding the possibility of a long period of having incontinence post surgery which he was most confident would not be the case for me. Within a short period I underwent surgery under his care and I had the feeling that I received the best possible medical service thanks to him. I am deeply indebted to him for all he did to make me feel comfortable at every stage of the whole process. I have absolutely no hesitation to recommend Mr Cahill who is both a first class surgeon and person to any future patient. God bless him 🙏

Mr. Cahill and his team explained the diagnosis, options for management, complications clearly, was able to manage my considerable anxiety, (I am a consultant physician, the worst kind of patient to look after). The surroundings, theatre, equipment were all of very high quality, but I believe the level of experience with prostate cancer management, (surgical and otherwise) gave me a high degree of confidence. Written and verbal communications were excellent, I was well prepared pre- and post-operatively. I experienced minimal complications

Mr Cahil was great with me, as he was very transparent and honest from the begining. Which is what exactly what I needed and appreciated. He was very accommodating and kept in-touch with me over the first couple of days. The experience would have been even better if he has personally come and seen me the next day and that the only element that was lacking for me. Overall, a good experience in very trying times.

Mr. Cahill was professional and supportive. He provided almost too much information prior to the operation, in the form of videos,but the pre-operation meetings and post op meeting (on Zoom) were helpful. I had the opportunity to raise any questions. Although I was not taking much notice during the operation, the end results have been positive, with healing of the scaring, and physically, I have felt particularly well, very quickly after it. It was a bonus to be able to see the remote equipment on the TV the day after I got back to the hotel (A feature was broadcast because it was the 10 years anniversary).

Declan is an extraordinarily talented consultant surgeon. The pre-op processes were clear, thorough and very well documented. The events on the day of my operation were flawless, I saw Declan first thing in the morning before the procedure, then in the evening after the op, and then he visited me again early the following (weekend) morning to see how I was. All of the pre and post op meetings I have held with Declan, Netty and Edna have been clear, reassuring and very well organised. My recovery has been very quick and I have experienced no problems, If I have needed any advice I have received same day replies from Declan and all of his team which has been very reassuring.

I found Declan very willing to offer a number of consultations prior to surgery to explain all the options and answer the many questions from my wife and i in a very straightforward and open manner. He was very approachable and we immediately felt we we in good hands. This continued into the operation and subsequent. Importantly the recovery path was exactly as he predicted and after a month or so life was pretty much back to normal. I was able to attend a major event just 7 weeks after the procedure and a significant trip within 4 months.
