Declan Really is first class. A true professional, with an engaging personality, who made me feel at ease at every stage of my treatment - initial diagnosis, MRI, biopsy and robotic radical prostatectomy. He was always accessible and replied quickly to any questions or concerns which I had. I would recommend him to anyone.

Mr Cahill was recommended to me by a doctor friend as an excellent urological surgeon who specialised in prostate surgery. Since I had to have a radical prostectomy, having a highly rated surgeon was important to me. So far, all my expectations have been fulfilled - and I only say so far in that it's early days and only time will tell if all the cancer has gone. The operation, I'm told, went very well. At every stage in the lead-up to it, Declan took care to explain to me what was involved and what to expect. And he was good at keeping in touch by phone, which because of Covid was usually the only kind of consultation available. He called my wife straight after the op to reassure her it had gone well. The care I had at the Guys Cancer Centre was excellent, always supportive without being stifling. Going forward, I feel that with Declan I am in expert and safe hands.

The care that I received from Mr Cahill and his team was first class in all aspects of my care. From the initial consultation I felt assured that my operation was going to go as well as possible and I was not disappointed. Mr Cahill is professional and engaging, as are the rest of his team. I was kept informed with respect to all aspects of my care during my procedure and as far as I am concerned, I had chosen without doubt the best man for the job. His after care is excellent and I was so impressed with the number of times he visited me whilst on the ward; to check on my progress, offer encouragement and to give advice. I was particularly impressed that, after the operation, he found time to phone my wife and let her know how I was. To conclude, not only is he a super specialist, he is also a super guy and I have no hesitation in recommending him to others who are in need of a prostatectomy.

I found Mr Cahill to be a very professional and skilled surgeon who alongside his obvious technical skills provided an excellent level of explanation which could be easily understood at a time of great concern for me and my family. He coupled a straightforward no nonsense approach with a high level of empathy which put me at ease before, during after my treatment. Declan put me at ease from our first conversation, professional, sympathetic and positive, his friendly approach went miles to re-assure me that my cancer was resolvable, but at the same time made it clear it was a team effort between me and his staff to get it resolved, information was comprehensive, and the dedication was intense, he gives you the impression that you are his only patient, which is exactly what is required when you have cancer. Covid obviously interfered with the personal approach, but I did not feel threatened by any of his actions with respect to the virus.

I was immediately set at ease from my first appointment and have been confident that I was in the right hands from then on. I felt at ease talking about anything and had very clear explanations for all questions (from me and my wife), he is courteous, empathetic and enthusiastic, I did not feel like just another patient but that I was having special treatment. He is to the point, does not beat about the bush and I felt, absolutely on top of his profession. In hospital and at consultations Mr Cahill’s bedside manner is second to none well worth looking forward to. Surgery might be a major experience, but I left from my first appointment through surgery and on to several follow up examinations and consultations that I am very lucky to have had Mr Declan Cahill looking after me.

Mr Cahill must be one of the best, if not the best, robotic prostate surgeons in the country. He is kind and very personable, and has the most remarkable skill in the operating theatre. He performed a radical robotic prostatectomy on me for cancer, removing all of the tumour and leaving me fully continent from the moment the catheter was removed; I have not suffered ED, even in the first few weeks, and cannot really believe the excellent results after all I read beforehand. If you need prostate surgery, he is your man!
