In my experience, Mr Aho is a highly experienced professional in his field, with extensive knowledge of prostate problems and how they can respond to surgery. He handled my case extremely well at the pre-op stage and (so far as I can tell) in the operation itself. I would have welcomed a bit more of a 'de-brief' from him after the operation, and in particular some advice on the stages to expect in my recovery. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone needing a HoLEP operation and I am most grateful for his expert care.

I know having to live with a catheter is not life-threatening but it is life changing. Mr Tev Aho changed that for me I do concur with the other patients comments re operation etc and I would like to ADD I am more than willing to talk to any potential patient in the UK/World who would just like to discuss my experience.(I did notice a chap from USA had come across for the operation) I know when I was considering ankle replacements I asked the surgeon if I could talk to people who had had the operation. I found that discussion did help me make my decision on what to do ( PS I still have not had them done.) Straight after the operation, I passed urine straight away and the flow was the best it’s been in at least the last 10 years. However, not in the class of another patient‘s comments about weeing over a five bar gate and hitting a mushroom on the other side! BUT Mr Tev Aho said it will be and I believe him. I really cannot express in words the gratitude I feel towards Mr Tev Aho/Team. In addition,the after care in hospital was excellent. I have got my life style back and it’s all down to Mr Tev Aho. This was my first major operation at 74 years of age. I had a catheter fitted for 5 months which made my life miserable. Mr Aho carried out HoLEP surgery on a Wednesday morning, I was home on Thursday afternoon catheter free. The totally amazing thing is I have no pain whatsoever. The surgery could not have gone any better. Any concerns I had about this surgery were totally unfounded. My consultant in Nottingham recommended Mr Aho for the operation because the size of my prostate meant conventional surgery was not an option. All I can say is if you are considering having this surgery you could have no better man carry it for you than Mr Aho. My life is back to normal and I cannot thank him enough.

I initially had a telephone consultation with Mr Aho, he immediately gave me confidence he was the right person and put me at my ease. When I met him on the day of the operation he again explained the procedure and likely recovery experience. He then took the trouble to see me at the end of the day to tell me how the operation had gone, he then returned the next morning to see how I had progressed overnight, and then again later to check I had progressed sufficiently to be discharged. He also told me to contact him should any issues arise, which I had cause to do about 5 days later and received a very prompt reply which again put me at ease. I would definitely recommend Mr Aho to anyone with the same issue.

He was most kind and ensured that I understood all aspects of my treatment. Nothing was too much trouble and I never felt rushed. As a result I had complete confidence in his treatment and planned follow up.

My experience of Mr Aho was excellent from start to finish. He explained to me in detail the procedure beforehand, and sent very useful reading material too. He was similarly helpful and informative immediately before and after the operation, and at all times I knew I was in very good hands. He was also very responsive to any questions I had on other occasions. Before and after the operation I emailed him with additional questions, and his response was rapid, friendly and helpful - and he was at pains to stress he was always available to answer such questions. My operation was carried out amid the Covid-19 lockdown, so many of our dealings were on the phone or by email, but that took away nothing from the level of care and understanding from Mr Aho. I think all this adds up to remarkable service, and I'm also delighted to say the operation was a complete success. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Aho to anyone, without a moment's hesitation.
