Mr Pollock was very kind. It was a scary experience being diagnosed with a benign bone tumour but Mr Pollock completely eased my worries. Before my surgery, Mr Pollock was always readily available to answer any questions both through emails and calls despite his busy schedule.

Mr Pollock is one of the best medical consultants I have dealt with if not the best!! He explains things in great detail but simple enough way for the patient to understand. The surgery he performed on my son's hand has gone so smoothly with no complications and the care he gave my son before, during and after this period has been of top quality. Mr Pollock truly cares about his patients and this is very visible, which gives the patients the reassurance that they are in great hands. We are very grateful to Mr Pollock for all that he has done and wish him all the best for the future.

Explanation

My previous consultant had referred me onto Mr. Pollock in light of a very large lump on my thigh. I had already had the RONH review my condition and my consultant thought it would be best to be seen by Mr. Pollock as he specifically worked on soft tissue tumours and would be better place to review the report from the RONH and provide a path forward. On seeing Mr. Pollock (two occasions - first in person, 2nd over video link) it was clear my report had not been either recieved or reviewed. had a wasted long trip to the hospital where I had to wait over an hour for my MRI scans that were requested from the Holly Hospital, which they didn't end up arriving so in the end I was sent away and asked to return two days late where, in the words of the Radiologist, "you will definitely have a path forward and diagnosis of your lump. May need a biopsy". On the day of my return appointment I called the hospital to make sure my MRI scans had been received which they did not know and the radiologist had now gone sick so my appointment was cancelled. I was advised the hospital would call me back to rearrange appointment. I called on Friday to find out what was going on as still no call back. Receptionist had nothing further to share but advises I will have a call by Saturday to advise further. Saturday I had a call to advise the Radiologist no longer needs to see me and to contact Mr. Pollock's secretary for more information. On asking why there has been an actual path forward as advised by the radiologist when I last saw him, I was advised ' she only has a text message to go off. I emailed Dr. Pollock Secretay to ask for clairty

Thank you for your review, I take all reviews into consideration to understand how I can improve the service I provide. I'm sorry that on this occasion you felt that your time had been wasted. Unfortunately, despite the fact that we had requested your scans from The Holly Hospital, they had not arrived in time for your appointment. This was an IT failure beyond my control and I apologised to you at the time. I arranged for you to have an ultrasound scan with one of our best radiologists on the same day at no cost to you and offered you a follow up appointment which has subsequently taken place via Teams. I'd be more than happy to offer you another complimentary appointment to discuss this further if you wish.

I could not have asked for a better consultant than Mr Pollock. I was under his care for 10 years since my first diagnosis until my clearance of the tumour this year in September 2021. He has been absolutely amazing because he really does care about his patients, listens to concerns and addresses these professionally and on a human level.
