I am a patient whose BAD vision caught up with them. When I arrived at Mr Aexander's clinic I had dense stage 4 cataracts in both eyes and also was very astigmatic and myopic. Mr Alexander offered me toric monofocal implants which are lenses for astigmatism. I had my first surgery on 27/3/19 and the second surgery on 18/4/19. At every step of each operation Mr Alexander let me know when to keep stil and when the cataract was out and when the lens implant was in, and in postion. I treally put me at ease. My 2 surgeries are a great success. Many thanks to Mr Alexander, that I can see much better.

Dear Mr Alexander. I would like to thank you for the care and trouble that you have taken with my eye. I realise that this is not over yet, I appreciate what you have been able to do. I look forward to driving again and being independent. Once again, thank you.

During my appointment I disclosed to Mr Alexander that I had been feeling suicidal due to my health condition. I was distressed and tearful and probably not making too much sense Mr Alexander put down his file and really listened to me. He gave me the time I needed to say how things were. I felt safe and heard and he liaised with my local ophthalmologist to ensure I had the right support. I have not felt like taking my life for over two months now. I don't think you can make much more of a difference to a life than that.

It is now five weeks since I had my first operation and I am now waiting for my new glasses to be made. I would like to thank everyone at the clinic for the care and kindness shown to me. I was absolutely terrified as I mistakenly thought I would have an injection in my eye in order to numb it, but all the staff, from the receptionist, tea lady and nurses, to Mr Philip Alexander, were most supportive. I know my other eye needs sorting very shortly but because of the care, I received this time I will certainly not be worried about it again. Once again, thank you to everyone in the department.

Mr Alexander was extremely professional in the initial consultation, the actual operation and the follow-up. I would have no hesitation in going back to Mr Alexander or Spire if necessary -particularly as the op was a great success. If I were a teacher it would be 10/10!
