Mr Donald Menzies is a consultant General Surgeon specialising in gastro-intestinal disease, reflux, gall stones, hernias, therapeutic endoscopy and minimal access abdominal surgery (laparoscopic) at Oaks Hospital, Colchester, Essex. Mr Menzies has a particular interest in gastro-oesophageal reflux, gall stones, adhesions and incisional and groin hernias, providing a complete diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy service including ERCP. He is also an expert in laparoscopic surgery, performing such procedures since 1992, treating upper and lower gastrointestinal diseases and conditions, with particular interest and expertise in minimal access surgery, using laparoscopic techniques.

Mr Menzies qualified in 1983, training at Westminster Hospital and The Royal London Hospital and obtaining his Masters in abdominal adhesions at the University of London in 1991. He was a senior registrar at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge and in 2013, he became an accredited mediator at the London School of Mediation.

Mr Menzies is an award-winning specialist who currently plays an active role in the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons as an Honorary Treasurer, in the Association of Upper GI Surgeons, in the Association of Surgeons and the Royal Society of Medicine.
