I was really worried when I found out I had bowel cancer I was so worried and scared about having an operation the first time I met Mr Vdb he made me feel at ease and confident he explained so well about how the operation and situation I was in he made me feel so much better put my mind at rest and he’s such a nice warm character land I feel like the operation couldn’t of gone better I feel completely healed even after care Mr vdb is so helpful a professional I wish him many thanks

Mr Van Den Bossche is a very nice surgeon.. Everything was explained before hand in detail even helping me to understand the whole procedure. His aftercare was amazing as was his bed side manner .. He visited everyday until I left the hospital .. Many thanks He is an asset to his profession..

Michael has really helped improve my quality of life. He has been kind and helpful, guiding me through from what to expect, performing the successful operation and after care. I am extremely grateful for his care which has all been to an excellent standard.

Whilst Michael is extremely busy & his hospital visits are brief they are comprehensive & reassuring. Pre & Post Op meetings @ the MSG were thorough & explanations were clear.

Had my surgery over a year ago now and I’ve not had any regrets. He explained everything and made me feel really relaxed and comfortable.

Mr Van Den Bossche is a really great man - a straight talking and brilliant surgeon who explained my entire procedure. He managed to remove all my cancer with keyhole surgery and I would not hesitate to recommend him. I look forward to my next 6 monthly check up with him as he is reassuring and easy to talk to.

Unsatisfactory

In Feb 22, I had an Ileectomy by Mr Van Den Bossche by open-cavity surgery, some 14 inches of bowel either side were removed as well. Since this procedure was carried out I have returned to very good health and so am delighted to be able to thank him for his excellent work.

From the onset, Mr Van Den Bossche put me at ease for my upcoming procedure. I appreciated the effort to explain the surgery fully and make me aware of potential outcomes. His manner and confidence helped me enormously during a very difficult and traumatic time. From the initial appointment, to pre and post op, both in hospital and in the surgery I have felt very reassured to be in his care.

Overall the operation was handled very efficiently 5 Stars for that, however the follow-up was not what I expected (or was told would be happening), Mr Van Den Bossche followed-up reasonably, Spire Hospital dietitians have been very poor and have left me to fend for myself ( 1 call in nearly a year and that only reiterating only what was said 2 days after the operation). My only criticism of MVDB would be a lack of pre-op advice on the mental effects I would experience in the following weeks (very important in my view).
