My professional experience:
With over 9 years of experience in the NHS, private practice and research, I ensure that I provide a high standard of treatment for each person I see. I have worked across services including primary care, secondary care and inpatient. Such services have been located within London including the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. My experience has included working with general adult psychiatry, child and adolescent mental health services and forensic mental health services. Within these settings I have worked both short and long term with clients presenting with various mental health difficulties.
I have carried out research at the Institute of Psychiatry and also worked for organisations providing mindfulness and mental health wellbeing workshops in the workplace for employees. This has included locations around the world including the City of London and Hong Kong.
In addition, as part of my ongoing development and learning as a practitioner, I have completed various courses including Working with Self-Harm, Behavioural Experiments, Understanding Complex Trauma, Masterclass in Substance Misuse and Metacogntive Therapy.
My personal statement:
I am an integrative Counselling Psychologist and am trained and able to work in a number of approaches (psychodynamic, humanistic and cognitive-behavioural second and third wave). I have a keen interest in mindfulness and apply this into my practice when appropriate. My practice is influenced by these approaches and I adapt depending on your needs, difficulties and goals.
I work with people across the lifespan, from many backgrounds, and with a range of issues such as: anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, OCD, psychosis, abuse, anger, personality disorders, bereavement and sexual difficulties. My areas of specialty are in the field of anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties and abuse. I aim to provide a safe and engaging space for anyone experiencing difficult periods in their lives and needing support in moving forward.
I am committed to offering my clients a high standard of professional therapeutic care. I prefer to work with individuals as a whole and consider difficulties in the context of the person's life rather than as a stand-alone diagnosis.
Additional information about my research, publications and interests:
I have completed a doctoral thesis in nonverbal communication in online psychotherapy and counselling which, is being prepared for a chapter in an upcoming book. Alongside this I am also training to provide distance therapy via Skype, chat and email to clients who prefer to have therapeutic contact in this context.
