Very thorough and succinct in discounting what the ailments were not, which was a very positive way to begin the consultation. The discussion and confirmations of what the ailments were was very thorough and explained in a semi-medicinal way so I better understood the issues. The prescribed medication worked excellently. A very professional and well managed consultation.
Thank you. Sometimes the art of medicine is not about what something is but what it isn't or being able to approach a problem methodically. I would hope that with 18 years + in the speciality I am familiar with most skin conditions but there are thousands out there and our careers are ones of constant learning, which makes it very rewarding.

Dr Farrant has treated me for Psoriasis for just over a year. It is a condition I have had for 31 years and, until I started to see Dr Farrant, one that had become steadily worse over time. However, he has suggested a range of treatments over the past year which has greatly improved the condition. There is still a little way to go, but I have been very pleased with the advice given by Dr Farrant who conducts himself in a calm, measured and pragmatic manner. I would certainly recommend him to anyone suffering with a similar condition.
Thank you. Psoriasis treatments have come on massively in the last 10 years. There really is no need for people to be suffering and if the simple cream based measures don't work, there are lots of tablet or injection based options.

Thank you for your professional opinion and will not hesitate to contact you again if my problem reoccurs
You're welcome. It's really nice to see previous patients five or ten years down the line if they do develop another problem. Feels like we are growing old together!

He is a very attentive and kind man. Explains what treatment is necessary and why.
Thank you. Skin cancer makes up a lot of my practice and probably accounts for the majority of patient anxiety. However, most can be treated simply, with high cure rates and no long term problems, unlike other cancers. Still best to catch early!

Dr Farrant was very clear in his diagnosis and explanation of treatment he gave and any after effects I might have. He was thorough and gave me the confidence that my condition had been healed.
Good to hear. Thanks for the review.

I had been told by my GP practice that I would have to wait for several months before I could go to have a worrying matter looked. I decided to see a consultant privately. I called the Spire and my appointment was made within just a few days. Dark grey strips had appeared on my thumb nails and toe nail, and after reading a possible diagnosis of skin cancer, then I was immediately worried and needed to see a doctor sooner rather than later. Dr Farrant was excellent and put my mind at rest straightaway by diagnosing it as benign. He also did a mole check over my entire body, which I was not expecting, but pleased he did. He certainly gave me a first class service and explained everything in layman terms. I have a follow up review in June. I'm pleased I went to see him, because if you are in any doubt it could be cancer, then go. Yes, I had to pay but it was worth every penny. My alternative would have been worrying until my GP was ready to see me. A plus also is that Dr Farrant is an expert in his field, so taking the backdoor entrance was preferable during these times of Coronavirus!
Thank you for the review. A single pigmented streak of a nail in an adult should be taken seriously but they are still often benign representing a mole. A general skin check is just part of the service and it's not uncommon to come across something else that may be more important. One of the benefits of private practice is the longer appointments and slightly more relaxed environment which allows for this.

I was given thorough advice and explanations of all available options, including the potential side effects of certain medications, enabling me to decide which medication was most suitable and effective for me personally. Checkups have been good, with further advice being provided throughout my 6 month treatment.
Thanks. I'm glad you felt informed and that treatment is going well.

I had some concerns about some skin blemishes but did not want to trouble the NHS. I was recommended to Dr Farrant by a friend. Booking the consultation was very straightforward and making a convenient appointment was easy. Dr Farrant was very easy to speak to, explained clearly what he found and carried out a quick procedure there and the to remove the blemishes which have all healed nicely. I will return for one more slightly more involved procedure once the lock down has lifted.
Thanks. Hope face to face services resume soon and happy to help with any further problems. Dr Paul Farrant
