I have found Dr Arghya Sarkhel, Consultant Psychiatrist, to be extremely professional, knowledgable and well informed; conscientious, approachable and patient with a genuinely caring manner. He listens and always knows what we have discussed previously. He reviews my care plan on a regular basis. He is accessible and I have found it clear that my well-being as a patient is important to him. There is much more I could say - since I cannot speak highly enough of Dr Sarkhel, whom in my experience has provided excellent quality of care.

I started seeing Dr Sarkhel when I experienced severe depression during my recovery from a heart attack. My life changed beyond all recognition, I experienced levels of panic and stress I could not have imagined possible, and was incapable of performing the most basic of tasks, and interacting with friends and even close family induced chronic anxiety. For a considerable period, I really didn’t see a way out of this predicament, life became purely about surviving the day, and there seemed no relief or escape from the bleakest and darkest of thoughts. From the first session, Dr Sarkhel demonstrated real empathy, made me feel I wasn’t alone in this struggle. He very quickly identified a combination of antidepressants which had a really rapid, positive effect on my psychological state, and whilst he has always reinforced the incremental nature of recovery from such a chronic depressive disorder, it has been so encouraging to start to ‘get my life back,’ step by step. Dr Sarkhel’s manner is comforting, his explanations are lucid, and he is an overall calming and enormously positive presence in the midst of a trial that I often believed I wouldn’t emerge from, at least in any fit state to function anywhere close to normally. I would recommend his services without reservation.

I’ve started getting psychiatric help from Dr Sarkhel about a year ago and I can’t be more grateful for the hard work he put in to find the right treatment that would specifically suit me. My mental health has improved significantly and I’m finally living a full life after years of being committed to mental wards and being debilitatingly depressed. I can not thank Dr Sarkhel enough for his help and support over the past few months.
