Have visited the hospital 3 times over 6 months. Very good waiting room with free coffee/tea and biscuits. Receptionists are ok but not particularly warm or welcoming apart from the very basics. The Optometrist is ok, although you can clearly tell that apart from the basic knowledge of operating the machines, he has no deeper knowledge or expertise on the subject area. He also avoids to engage in any sort of ‘medical’ discussion beyond the basic chit chat. For a private hospital one would expect a bit better. My doctor Mr Shortt was good, although you feel a little bit rushed. His PA a bit transactional and cold, overly keen to get the payment sorted. Overall experience 8/10.

I was very impressed with the Optegra Eye Hospital in Guildford. It was situated in a place which was easy to get to and park. The building seemed new and was very clean and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My Consultant was excellent and the results after my cataract surgery have been marvellous.

Really pleasant surroundings, scrupulously clean. Excellent staff, first rate Consultant. Both cataract operations went well and I'm thrilled with the result. I would heartily recommend Optegra to anyone.

Regarding the telephone conversations before the operations at Optegra - the member of staff was not very well informed regarding my particular needs (wait time for lens) and was trying to book me in on a date prior to my lenses being ready. I was having to feed them with info they should have had at their finger tips prior to calling me. She wasn't able to answer my basic questions and said they would have to get back to me. My experience of the staff on the day of the operations was faultless.
