Ms Sarath Divakaran

Sarath Divakaran is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist with over 25 years of experience. Originally from India, he relocated to Ireland in 2003 and has dedicated nearly two decades to working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist in both Cork and Tipperary, primarily within the public sector. He has also been an integral part of Early Intervention teams, providing essential services to children in need.

Sarath has completed specialised training in Neurodevelopmental therapy, particularly the Bobath approach, which equips him with the skills to address the unique developmental requirements of children. In 2010, he earned his Master of Science degree in Paediatric Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh. He has also obtained a Master's degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy, both completed in India.

His diverse skill set and interests cover various aspects of paediatric care, including Infant Mental Health, Mellow bumps, and the Newborn Behavioural Observations system (NBO). Sarath is particularly interested in the associations between early life experiences, emotional development, and their influence on sensory-motor development. He places a strong emphasis on nurturing positive parent-baby relationships in all his interventions, recognising their vital role in a child's well-being.

Additionally, Sarath has expertise in Aquatic Physiotherapy for children with complex needs, further broadening the range of therapeutic options he can offer. He has also received training in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy, demonstrating his dedication to providing a holistic approach to intervention for children, their families, and adults at the National Tongue Tie Centre.
